The United States Department of Agriculture classifies the Lincoln Park and West Duluth neighborhoods of Duluth as food deserts, where a substantial number of residents lack consistent access to affordable, nutritious food. In response to this problem, the Junior League of Duluth is working with our Community Partners to build a Deep Winter Greenhouse in West Duluth that will grow fresh produce at low cost during the coldes

t months of the year. This greenhouse will be operated by Community Action Duluth’s Seeds of Success, allowing them to expand their transitional employment program and increase the amount of healthy food available at the Lincoln Park Farmer’s Market.
